Dorothy's Ruby Slipper

There is a story behind this filly's name. Chronicle of the Horse's Forum helped to name this filly. We, at Emerald Acres, wanted to incorporate my grandmother's name, Dorothy, as she had always loved horses and had passed away on Christmas Day 2007. Since we needed a "D" name for the foal, this would work out perfectly. The night that Dorothy's Ruby Slipper, or Ruby as she is known around the barn, was born was a stormy night. There were tornado warnings for the area and we actually lost power at one point. Luckily, the power came back on prior to the foaling as many people watched Ruby being born on the internet. Someone suggested the name Dorothy's Ruby Slipper because of the stormy conditions. This name is even more perfect as my grandmother loved to wear red shoes - she always said that they made her "feet walk faster." Ruby is o/o the Anglo-Trakehner mare, Devotion, whom we leased for the year. She is by the Premium Stallion, Tanzeln. Ruby is proving herself to be a very sensible, and calm filly. At this time, Ruby will not be for sale. Dorothy's Ruby Slipper's Pedigree
