Ruby is sold. Congratulations to Kathryn Kriche at Rock Hill Farm in KY! We look forward to updates of the two of you in the show ring!
Ruby went to her first horse show on July 29 and 30, 2010 with Kathryn! Under both judges she placed and scored in line with the rest of the horses being presented. The best part though was that she scored 8's (actually an 8 in her 2 year old class and an 8.3 in her ATA class) for her WALK!!!!! Carter Bass also scored her in the upper 7's for her walk! Way to go Kathryn and Ruby! Best of all though was her excellent temperament and breeding shown through as Ruby not only was a well behaved 2 year old at her first show, she was also totally relaxed and confident - even taking naps in between classes.
Ruby combines some of the best dressage and sport horse lines in the nation. Her sire has not only proven himself in the dressage ring showing successfully at 3rd Level until a freak accident ended his under saddle career, but Tanzeln is also by the great stallion, Enrico Caruso. Enrico Caruso was one of the best Trakehners the breed has produced to date and has sired several world class horses - both in Germany and in the United States. Some of his offspring include the great stallion, Kostolony (who himself has sired more than 9 approved stallions including the great stallion Gribaldi) , the approved stallion Tocadaro, and 3 approved stallions in the United States - Pavarotti, Kovington, and Tanzeln. He is also the dam sire of numerous mares who in turn have produced upper level dressage horses and approved stallions. Enrico Caruso is known to be a slow maturing line, with great athleticism, a fantastic work ethic, and temperament. Also on Tanzeln's pedigree is his dam sire, Pregelstrand, who in the 1990's was one of the top 10 producing dressage stallions. He sired two approved stallions in the United States, including Leslie Webb's dressage stallion, Hannibal.
On the dam side, Dove is by the stallion, Hailo *Pg*E*. Hailo has consistently been in the top 10 and was even number 3 in 2007, of dressage producing stallions. Hailo babies are known for their beauty, work ethic, high degree of rideability, and excellent temperaments. Hailo has sired dressage horses, hunters, jumpers, and eventers. He himself has competed successfully through Grand Prix. Hailo's pedigree is a highly successful and known pedigree through the Anduc and Marduc lines.
There is a story behind this filly's name. Chronicle of the Horse's Forum helped to name this filly. We, at Emerald Acres, wanted to incorporate my grandmother's name, Dorothy, as she had always loved horses and had passed away on Christmas Day 2007. Since we needed a "D" name for the foal, this would work out perfectly. The night that Dorothy's Ruby Slippers, or Ruby as she is known around the barn, was born was a stormy night. There were tornado warnings for the area and we actually lost power at one point. Luckily, the power came back on prior to the foaling as many people watched Ruby being born on the internet. Someone suggested the name Dorothy's Ruby Slippers because of the stormy conditions. This name is even more perfect as my grandmother loved to wear red shoes - she always said that they made her "feet walk faster."
